St. Joseph’s college (SJC) was established in 1844 by Jesuits to lead the downtrodden of the society towards the walk of enlightenment. Establishing its services for more than 175 years, the college proudly elevates its fame from the heart of Trichy, a city rich for its historical and cultural inheritances, to all over the world. The college, after attaining affiliation from Bharathidasan University, increased its field of research into 21 autonomous departments of various educational disciplines such as school of biological sciences, school of computing sciences, school of languages and cultures, school of management studies and school of physical sciences. In addition, the college received Heritage status by University Grants Commission (UGC) for its rich historical, scientific and cultural significances. National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accredited the college with “A” grade three times consistently and in 2019 offered “A++” rank, praising the professional executions in academics and administration. DR. APJ Abdul Kalam, former president of India, is an alumnus of SJC and the well established alumni faithfully facilitates its presence towards the promotion of the legacy generated by the generations in the college campus.
